What is your approach to nutrition?

The non-diet approach to nutrition – happened upon this through a personal experience.

She was running and having difficulty getting pregnant so the doctor told Jacky to gain weight

Hypothalmic ammenhoria

Exercising more than she was eating

Jacky was shocked and felt like she knew all of this as a dietician

Lame 9 project

Female Triad – how to get herself better and have a better approach to nutrition

Changed her entire outlook on nutrition

Dancing population – Juilliard school where she works with actors, actresses, musicians, and dancers

There is pressure to look and eat a certain way so they may not eat properly or they don’t eat enough or after a workout

Female athlete triad - Many women are on birth control that can mask symptoms

Cant sleep at night is a symptom

Under a lot of stress can be a symptom or if you’ve fluctuating in weight or having light or no period can also be a symptom

High intensity physical activity through the week

Prioritizing eating before working out even in the morning even if its small

Finding the balance can be evaluated by how they felt in the performance

You can be healthy in the body you have now

Positive relationship with food

New Years resolutions and eating better – a diet is anything that restricts certain foods

If youre not eating enough calories, your body has a biologic response to store fat and can cause binges which is where yo-yo dieting and weight cycling

Any weight goal Jacky always says its not entirely in our control.

Intuitive eating doesn’t rely on a set goal or weight

If someone has a specific weight goal in mind, maybe that’s not realistic

Over-eating recently may foreshadow that weight could go down

Eating happens for so many reasons, whether its binging or restricting, not having your needs met is the cause of what we do in our nutrition

Plan in time self-care for nutrition

Taking a wholistic approach is key – exercise or physical activity is important to incorporate

Weight is not the best metric to measure health

Blood panel is a good metric to measure health

Bloodwork can be really important

Vegan and plant-based diets or going dairy free are very popular

Ensuring those individuals are getting proper nutrients

If youre not eating fish, you need Omega supplements

Blood sugar over time

5000 IU might be needed of Vitamin B whereas theyre taking 600 IU in their multivitamin

Multivitamins are great as a source of insurance

Meet with dietician or nutritionist

Taking a supplement can be very wasteful if you don’t know what your body is doing or what were deficient in

So many vitamins and supplements available to take

Balancing the body of what to take and what foods can give you those same nutrients

Guidance from a nutritionist or dietician is crucial
